When using Instant Messenger (IM) how can you transform the words you are typing into emoticons?

(i.e. you type I SEE and the emoticon shows up with an eye)
I want to see my words turn into emoticons with out selecting them.

Why does Yahoo Instant Messenger display a maximum of 6 graphical emoticons per line?

I have noticed that when I use Yahoo Instant Messenger (YIM), I can only enter 6 “emoticons” per line. If I attempt to enter 7 or more emoticons, YIM displays the graphical representations of the first six emoticons and will show ascii representations of all the rest.

Why did they pick 6 as the limit? It seems like a strange number to choose to me. This is a question that I have always wondered about!

Is there a way you can add your own emoticons into yahoo instant messenger?

How can i add Emoticons to Yahoo! instant messager?

I can make my own Emoticons, i know ware the yahoo messinger Emoticon DataBase is stored.
(Commonly C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Media\S…
But how can i add them so i type the/a text and come out in a IM?. I have Yahoo instant messager 7.0. Any one know? And i know my friend must have the emmocon pic also, so i can send it to them. besides that i just need to know how to have it appear when i type text.
